Some call it team building, others call it the toughest day of the year. On June 2, it was once again time for the WUB team to lace up their running shoes and join the action at this year’s Corporate Run in Saarbrücken!
Between severe weather warnings and the starting gun
Despite initially unfavorable weather forecasts and severe weather warnings that temporarily cast doubt on whether the event would take place at all, the starting gun was fired at 6:15 p.m., following a short delay. Fortunately, the weather gods proved to be kind: throughout the entire race, conditions remained dry. Only after the last participants had crossed the finish line did the skies finally open.
Strong participation, cheeky motto
With more than 10,000 participants, the Corporate Run once again proved to be an impressive event. Right in the middle of it all: WUB. Seven of our 24 employees took part – a participation rate that is certainly something to be proud of.
Our running shirts attracted particular attention. Sporting the slogan “We’re only running because the boss wants us to.”, we took to the course and managed to raise smiles not only among spectators but also among many fellow runners. The numerous positive reactions along the route showed that our sense of humor clearly struck a chord within the Corporate Run community.
Well-deserved rewards and the morning after
Following the athletic part of the evening, the management invited everyone to a shared dinner at St. Johanner Markt, where the calories burned during the race were enthusiastically replenished and the evening came to a pleasant close in good company.
The following day, however, it became apparent that the greatest sporting challenge might still lie ahead. Many participants—more accustomed to office desks than competitive athletics—likely returned to work suffering from varying degrees of muscle soreness. Productivity may therefore have been temporarily affected, but team spirit certainly emerged stronger than ever.
We are already looking forward to next year’s Corporate Run.
